Cooler Master Releases GX II Power Supply Units

Unveiled earlier this year, the GX II PSU series from Cooler Master has been officially released. The series, targeted primarily at gamers, consists of five models with the power index of 450 W, 550 W, 650 W, 750 W, and 850 W. All the products feature 150x140x86 mm dimensions and are characterized by a non-detachable cable design. Moreover, all the models without exception boast the awarding of 80 Plus Bronze certificate, due high efficiency level of 85% on load.



Cooler Master GX II power supplies fully support Intel Core (Haswell-based) CPUs with APCF scheme. All the units are equipped with a sole +12V bus and support a range of protection functions, including OVP, UVP and SCP. A set of non-detachable cables varies depending on the power efficiency. SilverStone announces the release of a new PC case from Petit series that is intended for Thin mini-ITX platforms only. Entitled PT13, the new-comer is differentiated by truly tiny dimensions of 186x182x42 mm. Its framework consists of a steel chassis and an aluminum flip-up cover.

The hard drive controller is a complex device, a minicomputer with its own processor, a control chip, RAM and ROM, TV recording and reading data, the interface module and the positioning system. It usually presents one or two microchips (in physical form), soldered on the Board, and implementation converting operations in the data flow.

Many modern drives are characterized by a variety of modes, including DMA2, ultra DMA and PIO. In order to take advantage of these modes, it is recommended that you download driver for hard disk controllers. Mode DMA (Direct Memory Access) is useful because it allows you to significantly offload the CPU of the PC during data exchange operations; wherein the controller is in direct connection with the computer interface. In contrast to DMAmode PIO uses the CPU when transferring data through the interface; however, the controller has direct access to RAM.

Sometimes the OS cannot recognize the hard disk controller, even when the installed drivers. The reason for this can be the following:

  • mechanical damages. When strikes or falls the elements of the seal can be deformed. Deformation most often exposed to the interface or contact at the site of attachment circuits. When a minor degree of damage, the device can be repaired, but the life of the elements is greatly reduced. It is also worth considering the possibility of factory defects of the individual elements;
  • electrical damage. The performance of PC hardware is largely dependent on the stability of the voltage petenera in the system. In case of excess, spikes or sharp cut-off voltage and electrostatic discharge, the fuses of the power supply circuit, power circuits or in the worst case, the controller CPU can burn out. Often the fuses are not repairable and require replacement;
  • outdated driver hard disk controllers. When you upgrade the hardware of the computer (or some components) of a previously installed program requires updates to install the relationship with the OS.
